The book as Platform for (re-)presentation / Space from 1D to 4D / Mirror of the practice of the artist
Bruno Devos has been active in the publishing and printing world for 30 years, as Managing partner at Stockmans Art Books & Hopper&Fuchs, where he curates art books. In parallel he also curates art projects on an international scale.
As an independent facilitator for art projects, he has developed art projects transgressing borders and cultures. In 2015-2016 he organised The importance of Being… a group show with 40 of Belgium’s most renowned contemporary artists in Havana, Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro. He also collaborated among others with Zanele Muholi, Nico Dockx, Koen Vanmechelen and Peter de Cupere.
He also initiated in collaboration with the Drawing department of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp the Stockmans Art Books Prize. The first four winners include Nanna Reseke, Yi Zhang, Emma Johnson and Santiago Evans. Recent projects include partnerships with William Kentridge (Atelier EXB, Prestel), Ren Hang Estate, a series of Fifty One Publications (with William Klein, Harry Gruyaert, Saul Leiter, Frank Horvat, Bruno V. Roels, Arpaïs Du Bois, Dirk Zoete…), Max Pinckers, Mashid Mohadjerin, Arpaïs Du Bois, Lara Gasparotto, Massao Mascaro, Joris Van de Moortel, Alexis Gautier, Kasper De Vos, Joëlle Tuerlinckx, Anne-Mie Van Kerckhoven, Karin Hanssen, Caroline Coolen, Anton Cotteleer, Guillaume Bijl, Denitsa Todorova, Tom Liekens, Cindy Wright, Sergio De Beukelaer, Oxiea Villamonte, Caroline Coolen, Stefan Serneels, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Aviel Cahn/OperaBallet Vlaanderen, among others. He published award winning publications with Nico Dockx & Dennis Tyfus and Annelies Vanoost
